Fonts are blurry ! I'm on MacbookPro Retina 2015 - Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6Libre Office Version: 6.3.0.4

Libreoffice Retina Pro

The screenshot is from a Retina Mac, Apple’s term for Hi-DPI displays. Run even the most recent LibreOffice on a non-Retina Mac, or use a Retina MacBook in clamshell mode with a non-Retina screen, and the performance problems go away. For whatever reason, LibreOffice and Retina Macs simply don’t work. Which leads us to the suggested solutions. Confirmed still in LibreOffice 4.4.2 x86.64 on MacBook Pro with Retina display. Comment 12 Iandol 2015-04-29 18:16:40 UTC It looks as if HiDPI is getting some love in 4.5 (aka bug #90796 ) — does anyone know if the problem with LO is that the UI code still doesn't know when to display HiDPI icons, or just whether there are no HiDPI icons yet. Now, with the retina MacBook Pro, it is very visible and annoying. Because the text is normally so sharp, I feel compelled to fix it anytime it gets blurry. I found a post on a similar topic regarding LibreOffice.

Dosbox free download for windows 8.1 64 bit. On Calc : When I'm typing it's neat but as soon as I click 'enter'.. blurry.

On Writer :

I changed the OpenGL stuff in the options but nevertheless.. I tried every setup possible there. Nothing changes. It's blurry.

Libreoffice

Any idea why ? How can I get a normal display ? (as I used to have)

Mp3 search engine script nulled. Also reporting Font blurring on LO 6.3.0 on macOS 10.14.6 and that this wasn't happening on LO 6.2.5.2

@dm4n To mention that you face this problem doesn't mean that it reaches any developer and in addition doesn't ensure at all, that anybody will work on a fix. The only way to achieve developers attention is to file a bug report at Bugzilla.

Ok, Bug report filed.

I've got the same problem. It's a weird one, I thought they'd notice it straight away. Anyway, I hope they will sort it soon..

Still present in 6.3.3 on macOS 10.14.6, 2019 imac

I'm experiencing the same problem on macOS Catalina 10.15.2. For the moment I solved it by installing the older LO version 6.2.8. I am surprised by this solution because per System Requirements, 'LibreOffice 6.3.x: macOS 10.10 (Yosemite) or higher' shall suffice.

Workitems for HiDPI

As of LibreOffice 4.2.3, Windows and Linux have good HiDPI support, although bitmaps are scaled. Here's a writeup of the initial work.Note: simple scaling is generally best to make icons not blurry

OS / HiDPI detection issues

Gnome: Since version 3.10, Gnome auto-detects screen resolution and sets a 192 DPI value on HiDPI monitors. You can verify this by running 'xrdb -query'. Therefore, LibreOffice looks good out of the box.

KDE: In 4.x system settings, under Application Appearance - Fonts, you can set the 'Force fonts DPI' to 192. When this is set, the LibreOffice HiDPI mode kicks in.

Xfce: It is possible to manually set the DPI to 192 as well.

Unity: System settings → Displays and using the slider 'Scale for menu and title bars', set the value to 2. ('xrdb -query' returns 192 dpi after setting the scale factor 2, and the scale factor may be 2 by default for HIDPI screens in the future.)

Mac: Apple does auto-doubling until you turn off compatibility mode which causes some small side effects (tdf#51734, tdf#51735) Norbert is looking into it but is still in the investigation phase.
